We engaged Ashcroft Homes to design and build a multi unit townhouse development in Auckland. Throughout the entire project we found Ashcroft staff to be professional and proactive in dealing with the curve balls that the Covid lockdowns had on the project and went out of their way to minimise delays and costs. We will continue to look at more Build To Rent projects using Ashcroft Homes.

I was initially attracted to Ashcroft because of their smart house designs. The plans were well designed and I thought the pricing was really competitive. As I worked with the Ashcroft team, I became even more impressed. They have a great team of people who are really knowledgeable and super helpful, right from my initial dealings with my Property Development Consultant, to my building Project Manager, to the team at Rocket Mortgages (Ashcroft’s finance partner). I am really satisfied with the final build and have no hesitation in recommending Ashcroft Homes to others.

We looked for a builder that specialised in two storey homes on the smaller Auckland sites and who had a good selection of plans as its much better value to find an existing plan that fits the site and then change some of the internal rooms if necessary, than to go for a design and build. Also any problems should have been ironed out. Ashcroft had a sound business plan and low overheads which meant we only had to pay for what we got and the building company wasn’t about to go defunct halfway through the project. We got an attractive good quality water tight home and there were no problems in getting Ashcroft to fix any workmanship done by the contractors that wasn’t up to scratch. There was almost a 20% immediate capital gain on completion if we’d chosen to sell.

We’ve always thought about developing the back yard, so we did some shopping around. Turns out, Ashcroft know their stuff! Super efficient, great range of standard plans. Everything has just felt easy with them and I know we’re in good hands.

The people we have been dealing with are wonderful. Always keep us informed step by step. Any issues that arise, they sort them out immediately.

Ashcroft Homes were very helpful and easy to deal with. We liked the price and the value for money. We wanted a simple brick and tile home, not the elaborate plans Signature Homes offered us. We signed up with Ashcroft to build 4 terrace units on fixed price contract over a period of high inflation and building materials cost escalation. Just as well it was a fixed price contract otherwise it would have been a small nightmare. The construction is now completed, and we are renting them out. So far, according to two separate property managers they related that the quality of the build and finish were excellent. It sounds like the after-completion service will be great too, particularly as they have Master Build Guarantee. All in all, despite a slow start, all worked out well and many thanks to the Ashcroft team – will definitely enlist their service again and will not hesitate to recommend them to others.

Overall, we had a very pleasant and surprisingly smooth building experience with Ashcroft Homes. My tip, first, do your research upfront if you want the right result: foremost (in my case), entailed selecting the right build plan for my 400m2 section. I reviewed the plans of 12 building companies in Auckland (all the big ones), pored over their designs, compared their prices. Talked to bespoke builders too. When I came across Ashcroft and their Rocheford design, I knew I’d found the right one: attractive, best use of space, competitive pricing. I think Ashcroft Homes have done an excellent job of building and delivering our houses and I have enjoyed working with a great team of people. I am from the construction industry and have been involved in building very high quality houses for a reputable builder for over 7 years. Now, I run and operate a medium size civil construction business and I don’t have the time and energy to design and project manage my own projects. We were looking for a 3-storey design and the Daventry ticked all the boxes right away. We were building to rent and knew that the multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, and the dedicated office space would appeal to many groups, including inter-generational families, families with older children needing their own space, and professionals working from home; it’s a very flexible home with great living spaces! The partially covered deck is a thoughtful addition, especially given Auckland’s unpredictable weather. They were solid construction of brick. This was important. I would choose Ashcroft Homes again for certain.

We contracted Ashcroft to build a duplex for us at the front of our property. We found their pricing to be appealing and appreciated their transparent open book policy. The Ashcroft management team was professional with good communication in answering any queries we had. I was looking to build a two level brick and tile home and approached all major building companies in Auckland. No one offered to build two storey brick and tile. Finally saw Ashcroft Homes and approached them. They were very welcoming and offered expert advise and valuable time. Building a new house is a traumatic experience, but working with Ashcroft made it totally stress-free. They spent a lot of time planning what we needed in the new house. During the construction period also, Ashcroft were welcoming of any suggestions and were happy to make changes. Throughout the project, the construction went according to plans and timeframe. We engaged Ashcroft Homes to build a Beaumont stand alone house for us last year. It has been smooth sailing from the foundation stage besides a small delay due to weather. I had heard horror stories of other builders, but for us this was a pleasant experience, which we would have no hesitation in repeating. My wife and I thought of an idea to make better use of our land and house, situated in a good location in Te Atatu South. To replace the house with several townhouses that would not only bring in a potentially higher return, but could also help get two of our kids and their partners into their first homes. We looked around at townhouses and came to conclusion that the best looking ones seemed to be built by Ashcroft. I approached the company and was very impressed by the Rep who came to meet us. Next was to see if we could organise finance, which was successful. And soon after the OK. It was a bit daunting giving the OK to demolish our rental house, yet also felt exciting. I drove past the development most days during the build. Our rep had warned me that most developments have unseen things happen that you had to adapt for. I’m glad he was up front about that. We had Jacinda lock us down in business leaving us without and income for seven months, and Auckland, the interest rates tripled, we all had to navigate the impact of last year’s storms and floods and finally Vector held us up by five months. But being in business for over forty years we’ve learned resilience. It helped that the entire time I appreciated the professionalism and expertise of the Ashcroft Team. We worked with around ten of the team during the build and ALL were awesome! Tina and I accepted our keys last week and had enormous pleasure at presenting two of our kids with their keys. We have a property manager (recommended to us) appointed to select good tenants for the balance. The houses look incredibly nice. It paid to invest slightly more to make a difference to the appearance. I have other property and am hoping to work with Ashcroft again.

Even before land acquisition I reached out to Phil at Ashcroft first. From inception to consenting (both Resource Consent and Building Consent) to construction and handover. They will work with you on any construction or paperwork issues and try to find a solution. Their offices are central and happy for an impromptu catch up anytime. We used Ashcroft homes to demolish an old house and rebuild an Ascott in its place. All the staff were completely professional at all times, friendly and thorough. Their communication of building progress was excellent. They worked hard every day, often going the extra distance to ensure the build was as stress free as possible for us. This was an ambitious project, but we are so pleased with the outcome. As with most builds, we’ve encountered a few challenges along the way, but luckily these were all overcome. And we were really glad to have Ashcroft’s support and guidance throughout.
