COVID-19 Response

Tuesday 28 April: Alert Level 3.

Great News – we’re back on the tools!

With the movement to Alert Level 3 on Tuesday 28 April, Ashcroft’s construction teams were able to get back onsite and get client projects back on track. .

What does construction, at Alert Level 3, look like?

A COVID-19 Standard for New Zealand Construction Operations has been developed by key industry organisations, along with guidelines for residential builders.

As a result, a number of new safety protocols have been introduced, the most important of these being a Trace Register which will need to be completed by everybody accessing the site, both on arrival and departure. This is to track movement and potential channels for virus spread.

Correct hygiene protocols and social distancing will have to be adhered to and correct cleaning of tools and equipment is paramount. This means introduction of wash stations, appropriate signage and a number of associated protocols. We will be restricted to having one contractor on site at a time which, along with the increased safety measures, will impact scheduling, turnaround times and final project delivery dates. This is unfortunate, but it is the only way we can continue to keep our teams, clients and communities safe.

Wed 26 March: Alert Level 4

16 March 2020: Alert Level 2

With the evolving situation around COVID-19, we would like to assure you that the Ashcroft Homes Team is working hard to protect our staff, customers, suppliers and the wider community.

We have put in place a series of proactive measures to maintain business-as-usual while doing our utmost to prevent the spread of the virus any further within New Zealand.

These measures include:

  • Closing the Ashcroft Homes office to walk in visitors – access for visitors is by appointment only, and visitors will be asked to adhere to Ashcroft’s hygiene protocols when visiting.
  • Increasing hygiene practices of all Ashcroft Homes staff members. These include daily cleaning of workstations, high-contact areas and communal areas. Antiseptic gel and wipes have been issued to staff and are available to all in the office.
  • Reducing the number of face-to-face meetings and limiting the numbers in attendance at those meetings.
  • All staff are practicing a ‘no physical contact approach’ and will not be shaking hands. We also require a physical separation of at least one metre between all people in our office, whether they be a team member or a visitor to the office.
  • Ensuring all staff have access to our Virtual Private Network facility so everyone has the ability to work from home.
  • All people displaying any cold or flu like symptoms are restricted from coming to the Ashcroft Homes office and any staff with such symptoms are required to work from home.

With regards to business as usual, plans are still being produced, resource and building consents are being lodged and approved, and titles are still being issued. Council have confirmed that currently all operations are continuing as usual (with additional protection measures in place) and that staff can work remotely if required. We are working closely with all our supply partners to ensure supply chain resilience, expanding supply coverage across critical products and services. Regular communications with our partners allow us to anticipate issues so we can proactively respond and maintain our supply of products and services.

Rest assured, we are monitoring the situation daily, following Government advice on the matter and engaging our own additional protection protocols. If you would like to discuss the situation then please contact Tim Lott our Chief Operating Officer on 09 377 5885.

We thank you for your understanding and support and our thoughts are with you and your families during these uncertain times.

Yours faithfully

Paul Koppens
